The project “Healthy Mothers, Healthy Futures: ONGC CSR Initiative for Maternal and Child Health” is specially written under the thrust area “Health Care “ of ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.) CSR initiative focused on environmental protection.
The “Healthy Mothers, Healthy Futures” project, part of ONGC’s CSR initiative, aims to enhance maternal and child health in underserved rural and tribal communities through mobile healthcare. Targeting pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under five, the initiative employs a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) for on-site medical services, including check-ups, immunizations, and nutrition counseling.
Project Overview:
1. “Healthy Mothers, Healthy Futures” is an ONGC CSR initiative aimed at improving maternal and child health in underserved areas.
2. Objective: Enhance maternal and child health outcomes through mobile healthcare and community education.
3. Target Group: Pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children (0-5 years) in rural and tribal regions.
4. Implementation Model: Deployment of a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) for doorstep medical and diagnostic services.
5. Core Activities: Includes antenatal/postnatal check-ups, immunizations, nutrition counseling, and telemedicine support.
6. Community Component: Training of 100 local volunteers (Health Sakhis) to promote awareness and outreach.
7. Education & IEC: Conduct regular health camps, hygiene and breastfeeding workshops, and nutrition sessions.
8. Coverage: 150+ health camps serving over 5,000 direct beneficiaries and reaching more than 15,000 individuals.
9. Monitoring: Digital data tracking, monthly reporting, and third-party impact evaluation.
10. SDG Alignment: Supports SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-Being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger).
11. Brand Visibility: ONGC branding on the mobile health van, IEC materials, and volunteer uniforms.
12. Sustainability Plan: Asset retention by the implementing agency and integration with PHCs and NHM.
13. Long-Term Impact: Aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality, improve nutrition, and empower communities.
14. Key Partners: ONGC CSR Division, Implementing NGO, PHCs, ICDS, and District Health Department.
15. Outcome: Establishes a replicable, community-driven mobile healthcare model, highlighting ONGC’s CSR leadership.
Project Contents
