The project “Rain to Resource: Community Rainwater Harvesting & Groundwater Recharge Mission” is specially written under the thrust area “Water management including ground water recharge“of ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.) CSR initiative focused on Water conservation and management.

Project Highlights
1. Rain to Resource is a CSR initiative to strengthen water security in urban slums and rural areas through rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge.
2. Installation of 50–75 rooftop rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems in schools, community buildings, and households.
3. Construction and retrofitting of 25–40 groundwater recharge structures including pits and percolation wells.
4. Expected annual water harvesting of 5–7 million litres and groundwater recharge of 2–4 million litres.
5. Formation of 10–15 Community Water Committees to manage and sustain the systems.
6. Training of 40–60 local youth as Rainwater Ambassadors for long-term maintenance and repairs.
7. Awareness programs in 10–15 schools, creating 500–700 Water Champions among students.
8. Community mobilisation activities reaching 8,000–12,000 beneficiaries through rallies, street plays, and IEC materials.
9. Introduction of a Community Maintenance Fund for self-sustained operations post-ONGC support.
10. Monthly monitoring, technical audits, and a digital dashboard to ensure transparency and accountability.
11. Strong branding for ONGC through visibility on installations, materials, and community events.
12. Project directly supports SDG 6, SDG 11, SDG 12, SDG 13, and SDG 15.
13. Enhances environmental resilience by reducing dependence on tanker water and improving groundwater levels.
14. Implements a low-cost, scalable model suitable for replication across other ONGC CSR geographies.
15. Ensures long-term community ownership, improved water security, and sustained environmental impact.
Project Contents
Comprehensive proposal including objectives, activities, timelines, budget, sustainability plan, Gantt Chart, Organogram of team structure, a logical framework (Logframe), detailed budget, a sustainability plan, an exit strategy, and anticipated benefits to ONGC, impact assessment details and a separate folder containing images..
