Establishment of an Eco-Friendly Sanitary Napkin Production and Skill Satellite Centre for Women’s Health, Hygiene and Economic Empowerment (TDUPW – Skill Satellite Centre – DSIR)

This is a readymade project report to establish Skill Satellite Centre (SSC) for “Eco-Friendly Sanitary Napkin Production for Women’s Health, Hygiene and Economic Empowerment” under “Technology Development and Utilization Programme for Women (TDUPW)” scheme sponsored by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR). The scheme aims to enhance the economic opportunities for women (for socio – economic upliftment of rural women).

Project Highlights –

● Project Aim: Establish an Eco-Friendly Sanitary Napkin Production & Skill Satellite Centre under DSIR’s TDUPW initiative to empower rural women through health, hygiene, and economic opportunities.
● Target Audience: Rural and semi-urban women focusing on menstrual hygiene, skill development, and entrepreneurship.
● Key Offerings:
(i) Training in biodegradable sanitary napkin production, quality control, and safe hygiene practices.
(ii) Financial literacy and entrepreneurship workshops to enable self-employment.
(iii) SHG-based and micro-enterprise models for sustainable livelihoods.
● Sustainability Focus: Local, low-cost production of eco-friendly, biodegradable sanitary napkins to reduce environmental impact.
● Impact:
(i) Addresses menstrual health disparities and breaks societal taboos through community awareness.
(ii) Post-DSIR support, the center becomes a self-sustaining women-led enterprise.
● Scalability: Replicable model under TDUPW, supporting rural women’s socio-economic upliftment across regions.
● Partnership: NGO support for mentoring and long-term project success. Target Audience: Rural and semi-urban women focusing on menstrual hygiene, skill development, and entrepreneurship.
