Empowering Rural Women via Sustainable Floriculture | DSIR-TDUPW
This is a redymade project report for “Floriculture” to enhance the economic opportunities for women (for socio – economic upliftment of rural women). The project sponsored by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under “Technology Development and Utilization Programme for Women (TDUPW)” scheme.
Key Impact Areas:
• Women Empowerment: Formation of 30 Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) to foster collective decision-making and financial independence.
• Sustainable Income: Promotion of floriculture as a profitable, eco-friendly alternative for self-employment and livelihood security.
• Market Access: Integration of market linkages and collective marketing strategies to ensure better price realization for farmers.
Technical Implementation & Training:
• Scientific Cultivation: Training programs covering flower cultivation, nursery management, and propagation techniques.
• Eco-Friendly Practices: Emphasis on organic inputs and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to ensure sustainable farming.
• Post-Harvest Management: Comprehensive training on drying, grading, packaging, and value addition to maximize product quality.
• Technology Adoption: Introduction of appropriate tools and technologies to boost productivity and reduce labor.
Infrastructure & Support:
• Demonstration Units: Establishment of model floriculture plots and demonstration sites for hands-on learning.
• Capacity Building: Workshops on entrepreneurship development and financial literacy to manage micro-enterprises effectively.
• Mentorship: Continuous monitoring, mentoring, and handholding support from the NGO, ensuring sustainability even after project completion.
Scalability & Long-term Vision: The project is designed to be scalable and replicable, strengthening SHGs as women-led micro-enterprises that contribute to inclusive rural development.
Project Contents
