Transforming Waste into Wealth – Empowered by ONGC CSR
The project “Prakriti Sampada: Decentralized Waste-to-Resource and Green Skill Academy” is specially written under the thrust area “Environment protection“ of ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.) CSR initiative focused on environmental protection.
This flagship ONGC Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project is a model for Environmental Protection and Ecological Conservation. Prakriti Sampada establishes a community-led circular economy model, converting local waste into valuable resources while creating sustainable Green Jobs and livelihood opportunities.
Project Highlights
1. Project Focus: Community-led circular economy model for waste-to-resource conversion and green livelihood generation.
2. Implementing Partner: Experienced NGO / Institution under ONGC CSR supervision.
3. Location: Target semi-urban / rural community in ONGC’s operational area.
4. Core Objectives:
● Establish a decentralized waste processing and recycling centre.
● Train 50 local youth and women in green skills and waste entrepreneurship.
● Create 25+ sustainable jobs through a community-managed cooperative.
5. Infrastructure Setup: Installation of composting units, plastic shredder, sieving machine, and e-rickshaw for collection.
6. Environmental Impact: Reduction of 150 tonnes of waste annually, cleaner surroundings, and reduced pollution.
7. Economic Outcome: Generation of Rs. 6–7 lakh annual revenue through compost and recycled product sales.
8. Social Outcome: Enhanced community awareness – over 1,000 people sensitized on waste segregation and sustainability.
9. Institutional Innovation: Formation of a registered cooperative to manage post-project operations.
10. Sustainability: Project transitions into a self-sustaining enterprise after Year 1, ensuring long-term impact.
11. Alignment with SDGs: Direct contribution to SDG 8, 11, 12, and 13 (Work, Communities, Consumption, Climate).
12. ONGC Branding: Centre, products, training certificates, and awareness drives to prominently feature ONGC CSR branding.
13. Replication Potential: Designed as a replicable CSR model for other ONGC operational zones.
Project Contents
Comprehensive proposal including objectives, activities, timelines, budget, sustainability plan, Gantt Chart, Organogram of team structure, a logical framework (Logframe), detailed budget, a sustainability plan, an exit strategy, and anticipated benefits to HPCL, impact assessment details and a separate folder containing images..
