TDUPW – Moringa Shakti: Empowering Women Through Sustainable Moringa Cultivation

This is a redymade project report for Moringa, (often referred to as the “Miracle Tree” (Moringa oleifera) or drumstick tree) cultivation to enhances the economic opportunities for women (for socio – economic upliftment of rural women). The project sponsored by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under “Technology Development and Utilization Programme for Women (TDUPW)” scheme.

Project Highlights
(i) Women-Centric Empowerment: A DSIR-sponsored initiative under the ‘Technology Development and Utilization Programme for Women (TDUPW)’ to uplift 600 rural women across 30 villages via SHG-led Moringa (Miracle Tree) cultivation.
(ii) Science-Driven Moringa Cultivation: Utilize village-level demonstration plots with scientific techniques for organic farming, nursery management, and low-cost eco-friendly technologies to reduce labor and boost productivity.
(iii) Skill Development & Entrepreneurship: Training in value addition (drying, powder processing, packaging) + entrepreneurship modules (pricing, record-keeping, business planning) to foster women-led micro-enterprises.
(iv) Market Access & Income Growth: Direct market linkages with local and institutional buyers to ensure sustainable income for rural women.
(v) Nutrition & Health Impact: Promote nutrition security by integrating Moringa (rich in vitamins/minerals) into household diets.
(vi) Scalable Model: A self-sustaining approach with an exit strategy, scalable for replication in underserved rural regions.
(vii) Monitoring & Accountability: Rigorous PRC reviews and continuous monitoring for transparent, quality implementation.
(viii) NGO Facilitation: The NGO acts as a mentoring partner, not a long-term funder, ensuring project independence.

Project Contents
