Project Overview
The “Jal Krishi Vikas” initiative, developed for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), focuses on water conservation and climate-smart agriculture aimed at supporting rural communities.

Thrust Area
The primary focus of this project is “Community Development”, which is aligned with rural development projects as specified in Schedule VII item (x).

Key Activities
The project encompasses several vital activities designed to promote sustainable agricultural practices:
– Construction and Renovation of Water Harvesting Structures: Establishing systems to capture and store rainwater.
– Promotion of Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation: Implementing efficient irrigation techniques to optimize water usage.
– Soil Moisture Conservation: Techniques to retain soil moisture and improve agricultural productivity.
– Farmer Training: Educational programs aimed at equipping farmers with knowledge and skills.
– Demonstration Farms: Practical examples showcasing successful farming techniques and practices.
– Drought-Resistant Crops: Introducing crop varieties that can withstand dry conditions.

Beneficiaries
The project is set to benefit approximately 10,000 rural farmers, with a particular emphasis on vulnerable groups such as women and small or marginal farmers.

SDG Linkages: SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 6 (Clean Water), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land).
